Via Openbook

The VIA OpenBook mini-note utilizes the VIA C7-M ULV processor and VIA VX800 digital media IGP chipset, packing some great functionality into a small, 1kg, 8.9” mini notebook form. The screen can provide resolutions of up to 1024x600, and this is powered by the VIA Chrome9 DirextX 9.0 3D graphics. Also packed into this unit are up to 2GB of DDR2 DRAM, and options are available for a hard disk drive or solid state storage.

Additional functionality is added with Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth capabilities and AGPS, WiMAX, EVDO/W-CDMA or HSDPA options. The 2 megapixel webcam is fully integrated, allowing you to chat face to face with friends and family around the world. Top all of that off with three USB ports, a VGA port and a 4-in-1 media card reader, and you’ve got yourself a very handy little notebook.

The press release on the VIA OpenBook states that this mini-laptop can provide up to three hours of battery life using the 4-cell 2600mA lithium-ion battery. It can also support Microsoft Windows Vista Basic operating system, Windows XP or a variety of Linux distributions.
